The Rofan Mountains (Rofan for short) is a relatively small mountain range in the Alps. You want to discover the Rofan Mountains during your holiday in Austria? It's definitely worth it!
The Rofan belongs to the Brandenberger Alps and lies completely in Tyrol. Known for its wild, yet beautiful sides, the mountains are characterized by carts, washed limestone and large plant diversity. In summer and autumn, the Rofan can be ideally explored over rope-secured areas. In winter and spring, the Rofan is a sought-after destination for skiing and ski touring.
It is best to take the bus from the Hotel Christina am Achensee to Maurach (free with your guest card) and take the Rofan cable car up to the Erfurt hut. Even from here, fantastic views open up: The Rofan is right next to the Karwendel and offers great views of the jagged Karwendel peaks.
For alpine hiking, the tour will tempt you high up on the two highest mountains of the Rofan, on the 2259 m high Rofanspitze and the Hochiss some peaks further. It is with 2299 m the highest elevation on the Rofan and offers great views.
You also have a magnificent view from the Eagle's Nest - an observation platform modeled on the eagle's nest on the summit of the Gschöllkopf. At 2039 m altitude you can see the Achensee, the Karwendel, the Zillertal Alps and the Inn Valley.
The Airrofan Skyglider is another attraction in the summer on the Rofan: the steel rope is safely secured at speeds of up to 80 km / h from the Gschöllkopf down to the top station of the Rofan cable car. The flight experience is breathtaking!
The Rofan in winter is great for winter hiking and snowshoeing and for ski tours. Ski touring from the Erfurter Hütte is very popular in winter on the Rofan. The climbs on the Rofanspitze or Seekarlspitze are among the most scenic ski tours on the Rofan - for ski touring in Achensee holiday a highlight!
